Context
- Sample type: Slide decks for writer training sessions
- Product: Unified enterprise AI/ML platform and legacy products
- Audience: Technical writing team new to creating simple, lean, user-centered content
- Constraints: Created quickly—speed of delivery was more important than design polish
Approach
- I developed and facilitated an initial writer training session
- After receiving feedback on it, I saw an opportunity to develop 4 more—a complete series
Rationale
- Most writers on the team were not hired to create industry-standard, modern content
- The team did not yet have a usable, up-to-date style guide and did not use peer critiques
- The beginning of a leadership shift made the time right to make the case for user-centered content and approaches to creating it
Outcome
- 5 PowerPoint presentations I used in informal training sessions—a first step toward a team transformation
- Subsequent steps included implementing new content guidelines, a content scorecard, and an AI writing assistant—all of which I helped develop
